Today fellow staffer Reinhard Mueller and I are going to take a tour around the campus. But first, we meet with our colleagues![/x_slide][x_slide]02-beck-and-amy-info(From left) Assistant Directors Amy Tuttle and Beck Wise give us a quick rundown of the day’s business. Reinhard and I are searching for food and drink on campus. We plan to start at The Union; but we want to see what else we can find. [/x_slide][x_slide]03-reinhardt-and-staff-pay-attnetion Reinhard (right) pays attention to our instructions. We’re looking for food and drink because we want to add these features to our accessibility map, a major group project for this year. (From left) Sierra, Sarah, and Mac are preparing for their own assignments.[/x_slide][x_slide]04-team-accessibility-making-decisions The accessibility map is the DWRL-wide project this year. But there are smaller groups with their own pedagogical roles. I’m the team lead for the Team Wearables group project. Sarah’s the project lead for Visualizing Data. Both groups plan to unveil lesson plans in October. Make sure to look for them![/x_slide][x_slide]05-cactus-in-the-union This is the entrance to the Cactus from inside the Union. It’s one of only two places that serves alcohol on campus. It also hosts KUT’s concert series. Here’s the link to the site if you want to check out who’s playing! https://cactuscafe.thundertix.com/ [/x_slide][x_slide]06-wendys-on-a-friday-afternoon This is the Union’s Wendy’s. Reinhard and I are making our tour on a Friday afternoon. It’s usually packed here. I wanted to take a photo during one of its quieter moments. [/x_slide][x_slide]07-wt-pod This is the new convenience kiosk in the Union. It’s by the Smokehouse, Chik-fil-A and Panda Express. For those who don’t know, the convenience store at the North end of the Union has closed. The POD replaced it. [/x_slide][x_slide]08-underground Go downstairs at the North end of the Union and you’ll find the Underground. This is the other establishment on campus where one can find alcohol. It’s known best for it’s bowling lanes and airhockey. I wanted to take a shot of their pool tables and foosball. [/x_slide][x_slide]09-the-tower-security If you want something to drink and you’re in the Tower, no need to leave it. Find your way to the bottom floor, and make your way to this doorway. [/x_slide][x_slide]10-the-lonely-corridor The door leads to a stark hallway. You can’t see it, but there’s a soda machine to the left. [/x_slide][x_slide]11-the-tower-coke-machine This is the Tower’s soda machine. Soda machines might seem dated, but did you know that they help fund UT’s bus rides? [/x_slide][x_slide]12-os-outside-the-tower This is the O’s food truck just outside the Tower. Reinhard had heard of them, and wanted to get a better look! While I took photos, he was busy writing notes on what one could find, when spaces were open and closed, etc. [/x_slide][x_slide]13-fac-on-the-2nd-floor Many of the DWRL’s classrooms and offices are in the FAC Building’s ground floor. Go up two floors and you’ll find these vending machines. Vending machines make the money that pays for Faculty and Staff bus rides.[/x_slide][x_slide]14-architecture-building This machine can be found in Battle Hall. You have to go downstairs and make a left to find it. Vending machines made almost $223,000.00 in 2013. [/x_slide][x_slide]15-mezes-on-the-ground-floor These vending machines can be found in Mezes Hall. [/x_slide][x_slide]16-os-in-the-business-school The ambience at O’s Cafe in McComb’s School of Business offers a stark contrast to the food truck outside the Tower. [/x_slide][x_slide]17-os-when-closed The O’s Campus Cafe in McComb’s “after dark”. [/x_slide][x_slide]18-the-commons-next-to-business-os This common room is just next to the O’s Cafeteria dining room. It gives McComb’s students more space to eat when O’s becomes busy. [/x_slide][x_slide]19-the-dead-end-next-to-os These vending machines are next to the common room in McComb’s. [/x_slide][/x_slider][/cs_column][/cs_row][/cs_section][/cs_content]
